Stop the Actions of a Heartless Government that Tears Families Apart
They can take you away but not out of our hearts You're adopted by custom Our daughter you are Since birth we have raised you And now you are three They've taken you from us We do not agree We live in a land that claims Freedom and choice Claims to honour our rights Respecting our voice But we have not seen it Just lies and deceit And government systems Put in place to defeat They pretend to listen Make speeches and smile Take lots of pictures While looking concerned But when it comes to our children There is no goodwill They come out with arms swinging And attack us in court Using tax payer's money They have twisted and turned And fought legislation Technicalities used They have lost all direction To why they are here To protect little children Their mandate is clear So why then do they fight Spending government funds To keep our daughter from us At home where she's loved? With her mother and father And birth parents too To send her away To those she never knew
You may be away Across the country from us But we love you forever That will never stop Don't forget what we've taught you Be strong. Don't give up. Mommy and Daddy will find you We always come back. And when that day comes We'll dance once again We'll welcome you home With our arms open wide There could not be a hug Big enough to tell you How much you were missed Oh my dear, we love you We'll hike in the woods Go for walks by the sea Have family fun night See your friends on the street We'll do all the things that made Our house your home And at night when you sleep We'll be here, don't you worry You'll grow up to be strong Courageous and wise A Métis leader who stands up For what's right There will come a day When Métis will not fear And your kids will be safe And Your culture secure Until then my dear We will fight for you all Nation to nation we'll Answer the call Because Our children matter We're bringing you home And we'll pray for a system That will put your needs first.
Culture's more than a flag or a sash or a jig It's more than a cartwheel Or fiddling gig It's the values and language Passed on generations From elder to child our strength as a people. To home you'll return And my dear when you do There's a country of people Who'll be cheering for you Don't yet know how or when But I know this for sure The Nation of Canada says #Bringsshome ! Bring her home to her family Home to her friends Home to community And to her parents Bring her home to her culture Her puppy dogs too Bring her home where she's loved And please do it soon!!! Love Always and Forever, Mommy and Daddy
